The behavioural science of turning insights to action

Does our insight result in changes that stick? We need this, to drive the benefit we expect. Yet often we see a gap between our ability to process data or produce reports, and our ability to drive action and impact in the real world. This Insights Gap can rise out of interpretation and ownership, as well as limits in knowledge or capability of the people who need to be doing things differently. The fact is that it’s very easy to jump to action and then it just fails. Just looking at change programs alone, it’s estimated that 70%- 80% fail. That’s because the right way of thinking about how you take action has not been played through, or the right way of engaging people. People are not supported in their new behaviour, so the change is not embedded in the right way.
