Until recently, the time & effort required to gather data from all the various channels available was unrealistic for all but a few organisations. Those that could, had large budgets and the teams needed to build and deploy monster systems. Now, already, the advance of technology has transformed that.
Power BI rocks!
Like many Forum members, I have been using Microsoft’s Power BI, which rocks at so many things! It’s great to connect to a data source and you can then shape the data for use in your Data Model. You can create complex calculations that get to the heart of your data. You can use Power BI to create compelling visualisations that help users see through the numbers. Last, but not least, it gives you the ability to ask data questions in a natural way. Think of it as googling your data, and Power BI will answer back, graphically! It’s amazed me what can be achieved in Power BI in a short time. For sure, it takes time to master all the components, but a lot can be done by non-technical people. What’s more, there is a plethora of support online, via Microsoft and via the Power BI community sharing their knowledge to help others.
