Role Purpose
The successful candidate will work as part of an Agile development team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude to solutions design.  The role will involve working with key stakeholders to specify, develop, design and produce high quality MI and reporting to support key projects and Digital initiatives as well as ensuring the quality of existing reporting through automation, maintenance and review.  Driving efficiencies through data analysis and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will be a solid SQL Server developer with proven commercial experience delivering solutions on the Microsoft SQL Server environment and the ability to demonstrate advanced skills on the platform, having strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.

Key Accountabilities

  • Specification, design and development of purpose built, Operational MI solutions to meet Business needs.
  • Design and development of complex data models and data feeds for MI and Analytics.  Creating class-leading outputs and provide analytical insight to drive Operational improvements.
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders to find innovative solutions for Operational Business data requests in order to enable effective decision making.
  • Comply with and drive up-to-date data storage regulation and principles – PCI-DSS, GDPR and internal Data Governance policy.
  • Drive Operational excellence through the delivery of fact based, data driven reporting and to become a Subject Matter Expert in the field of insightful Operational MI across Customer Operations.
  • Understand and develop the MI infrastructure to provide accurate & timely Operational data from source systems.
  • Ownership of projects and associated stakeholder relationships, working in line with internal control and governance practice.
  • Embed MI best practice into every day culture – understanding its use, value, purpose and to ensure it supports business decisions.
  • Shared accountability for Database administration (DBA tasks) accountability for the performance, integrity and security of all MI databases. The Senior MI Developer will also be involved in the planning, development and optimisation of the MI SQL Servers as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of users and controlling accesses within.

Additional responsibilities

  • Partnering and relationship building with Operational stakeholders.
  • Impact analysis of any Business Change CRs for the Ops MI/Ops Support area.

Skills and Experience

ESSENTIAL

  • SQL Server 2012/2014/2016 database development.
  • SSIS (ETL) – extensive experience.
  • Stakeholder Management and influencing skills.
  • Data analysis/problem solving skills and the ability to present findings effectively.
  • Commitment to quality and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).

DESIRABLE

  • Degree level qualification.
  • Cloud (Azure/AWS) Database Development/Migrations.
  • Data Visualisation (e.g. Power BI/Tableau).
  • SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Call Centre Performance Reporting.
  • Planning & Prioritisation Skills.
  • Project experience.
  • ASP.NET (C# or VB.Net) to build new applications and maintain existing.
