Operational readiness: managing volatility

Those of you who have seen any of our content around forecasting from the past year will have heard this phrase. The role of any planning or improvement team is to make sure we are ready and prepared. In this article we will be exploring the concept of operational readiness. How do we know, if we are ready for the future.

Is it possible to be ready for whatever happens? Yes, if we have the right mindset and tools available. The reality is that we all have blind spots, even collectively we don’t know everything. However, knowing we don’t know everything can help us when we unearth a blind spot. Operational readiness is as much about attitude and approach, as it is about techniques and tools. Creating a rhythm of learning to drive understanding supports an improved planning conformance, as the gap between reality and requirements needs less explanation.
