A vacancy has arisen for an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Advisor to support the Trust to go beyond our legal and statutory obligations and requirements and continue to build on our commitment as an inclusive organisation.
The key elements of the role are to support the Trust to engage with external patients and stakeholders from seldom heard communities and internal employees to help us to understand how our services and employment practices impact on people and what we can do to overcome barriers.

This role will help us to advance equality and promote social inclusion across the Trust and the region. The successful applicant will support us to eliminate discrimination and foster good relations in our activities as an employer, service provider and partner and ensure people from seldom heard communities are not disadvantaged or excluded.
There is an internal and external element to the role. The external element of the role is focused on providing fair and accessible services to all communities. External community engagement will be a significant part of this role. The post holder will help to ensure links with community organisations, patients and stakeholders are managed and improved. The post enables us to understand the issues people from diverse backgrounds experience when accessing our services and how any barriers can be removed. This will involve organising and attending events, meetings, engagement activities and representing the Trust at external stakeholder groups. The successful candidate will lead on the development of initiatives and projects that advance equality and remove barriers people can face.
The internal role will involve engagement with internal staff networks, supporting corporate initiatives, developing internal awareness raising campaigns, supporting the Trust to meet legal and mandated responsibilities, ensuring employees can be their themselves in the workplace and helping the Trust to ensure employment practices are free from discrimination, harassment and disadvantage.
Using learning from all engagement activities you will make recommendation to the Trust on service improvements and develop initiatives and projects that advance equality and remove barriers patients and employees can face.
