Planning for COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us, the changes and impacts will continue for some time. It’s during times like this when you need you remember that you are part of a community of best practice, so don’t be alone. The Forum is your friendly, safe environment for sharing ideas, top tips and pitfalls to avoid. In this time of uncertainty its important that we collaborate and work together, bringing together ideas and use this time as an opportunity to learn and continue to raise standards.

We have designed three short series of learning academy modules, along with a top-tips & pitfalls to avoid for homeworking webinar and then a virtual networking group to help you. Phil Anderson has written an article about some of the considerations you might need to make.

This virtual Case Study Live is your chance to meet and speak with Awards finalists from RSA, Emovis, Yorkshire Housing and Injixo. These finalists have all shown the value of planning teams by stepping up to support the business in the last year. At this virtual, interactive workshop, you can hear more about how they achieved their success.

  • Hear how their roles changed and adapted to provide what their stakeholders needed.
  • See how they increased the trust in planning so that they became the centre of knowledge.
  • Learn about some of the new techniques used to engage with stakeholders.

Understand more about what’s happening in other organisations and sectors. Meet key stakeholders in these organisations and can network to learn from other members working on these same topics and challenges.

The workforce optimisation partnership between Yorkshire Housing and injixo showcases some great examples of how to take planning to the next level and work with suppliers in such a way that great partnership is part of the standard operating model.

Three nominations from RSA showcase great planning work. In the team category, they stepped up and adapted when home working was implemented. They have not counted their success in just getting people out of the office but also in the focus on wellbeing during lockdown. Phil Timney, in the Rising Star awards, has implemented automation and process enhancements, greatly improving the team’s output and influence. He was described as ‘Mr Puzzle’ for seeing problems and bringing others on the journey to resolve them. Lisa Hammersley, in the Analyst Awards, has demonstrated a relentlessly positive attitude in the face of serious stakeholder challenge, emerging as a ‘unsung hero’ who is always keen to enhance her skills and learn new things.

Tim Millburn, planning manager at Emovis, left single handed during furlough, took the opportunity to greatly develop the way planning operates, with work on holiday requests, shift reviews seeing rising engagement scores and great feedback from staff.
