The Back Office Maturity Model


The National Back Office Forum exists to promote best practice and professionalism in management of back office and processing operations. Following the success of the Back Office Efficiency Model, the focus in 2011 is on using the planning cycle to implement a new Back Office Maturity Model.

We are inviting you to be part of this process, helping shape the definitions that provide the framework and measure how mature the back office planning approach is within any organisation. A significant benefit of this model is that the assessment itself will also identify a clear path of improvement.

Within the model, there will be a matrix for each of the four main roles in the back office planning cycle. For each of the 15 categories of planning work, we will identify which are relevant to this matrix and what ‘advanced’, ‘developed’, ‘basic’ or ‘underdeveloped’ means in that context.
