Senior MI/Web Developer & Analyst

Role Purpose
The role will involve working with key stakeholders to specify, develop, design and produce high quality MI and reporting to support key projects and strategic initiatives as well as ensuring the quality of existing reporting through automation, maintenance and review.  Driving efficiencies through data analysis and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will require a good understanding of the business environment, excellent technical skills and have strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.  In addition, will also need to provide full Database Administrator (DBA) support for the teams MI SQL Servers and also MI Web Server.

Key Accountabilities

  • Specification, design and development of purpose built Operational MI solutions to meet internal/external Business and Customer needs.
  • Build of professional reporting/web page applications using the latest design standards and techniques.  These will range from single page to multi-page complex outputs. 
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders to find innovative solutions for Operational Business data requests in order to enable effective decision making.
  • Ensure industry data governance compliance is adhered to and built into any activities.  Drive up-to-date data storage regulation and principles – PCI-DSS, GDPR and internal Data Governance policy.
  • Create class-leading outputs and provide analytical insight to drive Operational Senior Business decisions.
  • Drive Operational excellence through the delivery of fact based, data driven reporting and to become a Subject Matter Expert in the field of insightful Operational MI across Customer Services and Collections.
  • Understand and develop the MI infrastructure to provide accurate & timely Operational data from source systems.
  • Ownership of projects and associated stakeholder relationships, working in line with internal control and governance practice.
  • Embed MI best practice into every day culture – understanding its use, value, purpose and to ensure it supports business decisions.
  • Undertake maintenance ensuring fixes are in place within agreed SLAs to minimise operational & cost impact and use learning to identify improvements and tactical fixes to MI and systems.
  • Share best practice across the MI Team to drive our NewDay way culture and NewDay’s Manifesto.
  • Shared accountability for Database administration (DBA tasks) accountability for the performance, integrity and security of all MI databases. The Senior MI Developer will also be involved in the planning, development and optimisation of the MI SQL Servers as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of users and controlling accesses within.  Maintain, support and develop on the MI team’s Web Server.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Partnering with the IT Telephony Team, BI Team and wider IT areas.
  • Impact analysis of any Business Change CRs for the Ops MI/Ops Support area.
  • Identtify and escalate any data breaches, following the correct NewDay processes.
Skills and Experience
  • SQL Server 2012/2014/2016/2017 databases and SSIS (ETL) – extensive experience.
  • Stakeholder Management and influencing skills.
  • Data analysis/problem solving skills and the ability to present findings effectively.
  • SQL Server BI Stack – SSRS, SSAS and Power BI.
  • Working knowledge of at least one BI Reporting Tool (e.g. Tableau, Qlikview etc).
  • ASP.NET (C# or VB.Net) to build new, complex applications and maintain existing.
  • Commitment to quality and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Advanced user of Excel 2013.
  • Degree level qualification.
  • Call Centre Telephony Reporting (ideally Avaya CMS and ECH knowledge).
  • Cloud Database knowledge (Azure or AWS).
  • Big Data Skills.
  • VB/VBA.
  • Oracle PL SQL.
  • Planning & Prioritisation Skills.
  • Project experience.
